The next regatta of the RC 44 Championship Tour 2009 will take place in Malcesine, Italy, on July 8-12. It is the third consecutive year that the Class chooses Lake Garda; a mountain lake blessed by a fantastic thermal breeze and surrounded by great scenery. Frank Pong’s new team Jelik, from Hong Kong, joins the Class for the first time. More

It went down to the last hurdle between No Way Back, Artemis and Team Aqua, separated by two points only before the ninth and last regatta of the event. No Way Back wins the fleet race ranking – on a tie with Artemis – whilst Team Aqua conquers the overall title thanks to its victory in the match race. More

Team New Zealand’s Ray Davies joins the RC 44 Class on board Pieter Heerema’s No Way Back, whilst Paul Cayard steps onboard Igor Lah’s Ceeref. Following the first regatta of the 2009 Championship Tour, held in Lanzarote last month, the RC 44 fleet is now heading to central Europe for the next regattas. Oracle joins DHL, BMW and SLAM as Partner of the Class, whilst new teams have scheduled their debuts. Some important Class rules have also been updated in order to increase the attractiveness of the Class, whilst Boat no 21 is nearing completion. DHL will minimize the carbon footprint of the champions tour and offset the carbon dioxide emission from transportation. More
