Team Aqua (GBR 2041)
Date of Launch: 2011
Boat owner : Chris Bake (NED/NZL)
Tactician : Cameron Appleton (NZL)
Chris Bake’s Team Aqua has been one of the leading forces on the RC44 Championship Tour circuit ever since its launch in 2007. With top match racer Cameron Appleton the permanent fixture as the team’s Tactician, Team Aqua defended their 2011 and 2012 RC44 Championship Tour title in 2013, keeping hold of the golden wheels for a third consecutive season as well as taking home the Match Race Champion title.
Cameron Appleton explains why the class works so well, "It's a great class with great depth. In this fleet theres always a battle and you’ve got to sail at your best; you can’t afford to have any weaknesses across the wind ranges and across your manouvers, and to top it off you’ve got to be fast."
He adds "The key is being confident and trusting your past experience. We are under no illusions that its going to be harder to win a fourth time but were just going to take the events one at a time, learning our new team and increasing the depth of Chris’ knowledge and skill."
